Offer moral support, encouragement and camaraderie in addition to providing information and networking opportunities for those with Parkinson’s Disease and for their Care Partners. We maintain a positive and uplifting atmosphere by implementing strategies physically, mentally and spiritually.

Shakers Anonymous is a positive-based support group for those impacted by Parkinson's.  We know that every PD journey is unique, but through the collective effort of teamwork, we can share our knowledge and support of one another. Our monthly meetings are free and take place at 7:00PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the New Canaan YMCA, 565 South Ave., New Canaan, CT 06840

 Our Resources

Our resources run deep and include the American Parkinson's Disease Association, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, top doctors, researchers and hospitals in the New York metro area.

What to Expect at a Meeting

We most often have a guest speaker sharing the latest insight on their discipline followed by support group breakouts for patients and care partners.

1/21/20 - 7PM

We will be featuring an award winning documentary film with Debra Magid and Zach Grant. This is a film about art, health and the will to cope. “Shake With Me” was directed, Produced & Photographed by Zack Grant. Story by Zack Grant & Melanie Vi Levy.

Debra Magid is an artist and designer who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD) in 2012. In the fall of 2016, Debra agreed to let Zach film her for a documentary to explore the relationship between her art and her condition. While the documentary's narrative thread will be Debra's growth as an artist in the face of PD, this film will tell a deeper story of a tenuous and unique moment in time where Debra's health is stable, her art is thriving, and the future is entirely unknown. Happy Holidays and a Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
